Breckenridge man dies in wreck on I-20
A Breckenridge man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 about 80 miles west of Abilene on Wednesday morning, Oct. 24, according to a report by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Jon David Woody, 60, of Breckenridge was pronounced dead at the scene after his 2000 Peterbilt Truck towing a flatbed trailer was hit by another vehicle, went off the roadway and rolled over, reported DPS Sgt. Fred Biddle. Woody was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck, according to the news release.
The other vehicle, a 2018 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Roger I. Bradley, 62, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was traveling east on I-20 while Woody’s truck was traveling west. Bradley lost control on the wet roadway, slid through the median, and crashed into Woody’s truck, the preliminary crash report stated. Bradley, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to the Mitchell County Hospital with stable incapacitating injuries.
The wreck happened about three miles west of Westbrook in Mitchell County and is still under investigation, Biddle reported.
According to Morehart Mortuary, the family will have a memorial service for Woody at a later date.
