Salvador Marentes, 81, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018, in Abilene. Funeral service with Father Lawrence officiating will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 4 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

Salvador Marentes was born on January 13, 1937, in Tierra Blanca, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Encarnacion and Francisca Marentes. He worked as a rancher in Mexico. He loved attending to his field/crops, cows, goats and pigs. Anything agricultural he loved! Salvador and wife, Maria, moved to Breckenridge in 2002. After moving to Breckenridge, you would often see him riding his bike around his neighborhood. He enjoyed stopping while on his bike ride and visiting with anyone along his route. Salvador enjoyed dancing and was good at it. Salvador will always be remembered as a man that always wore a smile and never complained. Mr. Marentes was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Marentes; daughters, Martha DeLacruz and husband Antonio of Mexico, Celina Guel and husband Luis of Denver, Colorado, Marcilia Marentes of Mexico, Miriam Marentes of Breckenridge, and Jatnely Gonzales and husband Jorge of Pennsylvania; sons, Cruz Marentes and wife Silva of Munday, Salvador Martenes and wife Teresa of Breckenridge, and Jesus Marentes and wife Juana of Breckenridge;  and sisters, Consuelo Marentes and Maria, both of Mexico. Salvador had 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers.
