Artists and art lovers gathered together Saturday night at the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center to celebrate the opening of the 27th annual Juried Art Show with a reception.

BFAC Director Shalon Wilson read comments from the show’s juror, Beverly Boren, who wasn’t able to attend the event.

This year’s award winners are:

  • Clay Pitzer Memorial Best of Show – Black Widow by William Schneider
  • Lester and Virginia Clark Memorial Award – At the Waterhole by Rosetta
  • Fine Arts Center Award – Dance to the Buffalo by Stephen Jones
  • Juror’s Award – Afternoon Tea by John Booth
  • Travis H. Toland Memorial Award – Ghost Ranch Refuge by Jan DeLipsey
  • Patron’s Award – Heart of the Trail by Jennifer Hammer
  • Newcomer Award – Moonlight Sonata by Bob Penny
  • Honorable Mention -Tempest by JR Cook
  • Honorable Mention – Bloom by Valeri Cranston
  • Honorable Mention – MS Sky by Tanja Gant
  • Honorable Mention – Lionel Toy Phonograph by Larry Hamilton
  • Honorable Mention – Pomegranates in Candlelight by Toni Stanford
  • Honorable Mention – Travertine Trail by Paul Walsh
  • Honorable Mention – A Good Day for a Hangin’ by Gary Ward

The show will be on display at the BFAC, 207 N. Breckenridge Ave., through Aug. 31.  The Breckenridge Fine Arts Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays; call 254-559-6602 for Saturday hours.
