AT&T experiences outage in area

June 10
15:40 2018

UPDATE: AT&T service was restored to the Breckenridge area at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday. An AT&T spokesperson offered this statement a few minutes after 6:30 p.m.:

Services are running normally after a hardware issue may have affected some customers in the Breckenridge area.

No further explanation was available, the spokesperson said.

Original story:

AT&T service for Breckenridge and parts of Stephens County went out Sunday morning, June 10. An advanced technical representative with AT&T said that three towers were “severely degraded” but that there was no reliable estimated time of resoration.

He said that the networking department was aware of the problem and was working on it, but he did not have access to data that described the exact cause of the outage.

The representative also said that the automated system gave a repair time of 3 p.m. Monday but said that was just a standard estimation and that no real-time schedule was available at this time.

The Breckenridge Texan is aware of cell phone and wifi service being down, but we do not have information at this time regarding landlines or DSL service. We will provide updates as we receive them.
