AgriLife Extension to offer kids summer workshops
The Stephens County Extension Office will offer several classes for children in grades 2 through 12 this summer.
The classes will be on the topics of soap making, cooking, pottery making and creating a terrarium. Each of the classes will be limited to 15 kids and will cost $35 per student. All of the classes will be taught at the local Extension office, at 2622 Highway 180 East (at the intersection of State Highway 67 and U.S. Highway 180).
Enrollment will be based on the grade the student will be entering in the fall of 2018. To register for a class, call Stephens County AgriLife Extension Agent Sumer Russell at 254-559-2313.
The details about each class are listed below:
Kids Soap Making Class
The Stephens County Extension office will offer a Soap Making Class for kids in grades 2-12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5. Students will learn how to make soap. Attendees will need to take a sack lunch.
Kids Meals in a Minute Class
The Stephens County Extension office will offer a Meals in a Minute Class for kids in grades 2-12 from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 19. Students will learn to make an assortment of healthy meals that they can make at home, unassisted. Snacks will be provided.
Kids Pottery Class
The Stephens County Extension office will offer a Pottery Class for kids in grades 2-12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24. Students will learn the skills of making pottery. Attendees will need to take a sack lunch.
Kids Terrarium Class
The Stephens County Extension office will offer a Terrarium Class for kids in grades 2-12 from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 31. Students will learn to create a terrarium.
