Bob Sims will be the new mayor of Breckenridge. Sims won the election on Saturday, May 5, with 262 votes. His opponent, Allena McElyea Duncan, received 28 votes in the election.

In addition to the mayor’s race, two city commissioner positions were up for re-election, but both incumbents were unopposed. Russell Blue received 243 votes for Place 1, and Rob Durham received 239 votes for Place 2

Sims will be replacing Jimmy McKay, who decided not to run for re-election this year. McKay’s term will end in June. He was elected as mayor in 2006 after serving as Place 4 City Commissioner for three years.

Sims will be sworn in at the June City Commission meeting by Breckenridge City Secretary Heather Robertson- Caraway.
