Officers of the Breckenridge High School Peer Assistance & Leadership organization presented a check for $245 to Silvia Jones to be used toward the Ashton Jones Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of her daughter who died five months ago.

Cheyenne Boone, president of PALs, said the group raised the money from a Mother/Son Date Night event earlier this year and decided as group they wanted to donate some of the money to a charity. She said they heard about Jones, who was starting a scholarship and memorial to her daughter Ashton, and decided to contribute to the scholarship.

Jones said it had been very important to her daughter to come back to BISD her senior year to be with her classmates, so she wanted to dedicate a scholarship fund to some of the seniors who are graduating this year.
