John Richey, 77, passed from this life to the next on Monday, April 30, 2018. Funeral service with Rev. Rex Boggs officiating will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at 1:03 p.m. at Gunsight Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

John Harvey Richey Jr. was born on November 27, 1940, in Abilene, Texas, to John Harvey “Jack” Richey Sr. and Mildred Samford Richey. He graduated from Hamlin, Texas, High School and then McMurry University. He had been a teacher, coach, and school administrator in Plains, Ozona, Jayton, and Breckenridge. He married Rayma Lemons on June 2, 2012, in Gardendale, Texas. John was an ordained deacon of the First Baptist Church of Breckenridge in 2008, and then was a member of the Gunsight Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Rayma Richey of Breckenridge; daughter, Johnna Reynolds and husband Stephen of Jayton; son, Trey Richey and wife Hayley of Gail, Texas; step-daughter, Casey Davison and husband Allen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; step-son, Ronnie Hannah and wife Angela of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Ann Jay of Granbury; brother, Bill Richey and wife Mary Kay of Mountain Home, Idaho; grandchildren, Taylor Richey and husband Brice, Tanner Richey, Garrett Reynolds, Tatum Richey, Trace Richey, and Jaylee Reynolds; step-grandchildren, Allie and Ashlee Davison and Nick and Rylee Hannah; and a great-grandchild, Briggs Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Jorene Richey in 2005.

Memorials, if you wish, are to be the following: West Texas Rehab or Gunsight Baptist Church.
