City plans tire, electronics cleanup day for May 12
In a continuing clean-up project, the City of Breckenridge will host a free electronics and tire recycling day on Saturday, May 12, at the City Convenience Station, 1548 FM 287.
The event, arranged through the Leon Bosque Resource and Conservation Development, will be from 9 a.m. until the truck fills up or 1 p.m., whichever comes first. On May 12, Breckenridge residents may take tires and/or electronics to the convenience station at no charge.
However, there are some restrictions as to what will be accepted.
Tires
There will be a limit of six tires per household, and the tires cannot be larger than semi-truck tire. No large equipment tires will be accepted.
Electronics
According to information provided by the City of Breckenridge, some of the items that will be accepted include:
- Computers – central processing units (CPUs), computers, laptops, power supplies, external and hard drives, chargers, cords and cabling, mice, other miscellaneous computer accessories, keyboards, web cams, televisions, CRT monitors, flat screen monitors.
- Printers, etc. – stand-alone large copiers/printers, printers/scanners/copiers, fax machines, cables and cords.
- Networking equipment – servers and cabling, racks, trays and cages, UPS systems, data center equipment.
- Electronics – cell phones, PDAs, TVs, VCRs, DVDs, stereos, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Sega, cameras, digital cameras, charges, cords, accessories, memory and gaming boards, Game Boys, electronic games, sound systems.
- Household – microwaves, appliances, dishwashers, washers, dryers.
Note that this is not necessarily an all-inclusive list. If you have questions about whether or not an item will be accepted, call the Commodity Recycling Solutions at 817-300-6558.
Not allowed
Items that will not be accepted: Paint, light bulbs, mattresses, mercury, gasoline, oils and freon.
The project is offered with funds from a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality enforcement action.
