One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident on East Walker and Jackson Street shortly after noon on Wednesday, April 18. The accident involved a 1997 Ford pickup pulling a trailer traveling eastbound on East Walker and a 2014 Toyota Highlander SUV driving westbound on East Walker.

Breckenridge Police Chief Larry Mahan said emergency responders were dispatched to the accident scene at 12:18 p.m. According to Mahan, the driver of the pickup said he hit a rough spot on the highway and broke a tie rod, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle and then collide with the SUV. The accident occurred in the construction zone on U.S. Highway 180 East.

The driver of the Highlander was transported by ambulance to Stephens Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Mahan said.

Breckenridge Police Department, Breckenridge Fire Department, Sacred Cross Emergency Medical Services and Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash scene.
