County officials seeking names for veterans memorial

Stephens County Judge Gary Fuller is asking citizens to call his office at 254-559-2190 or County Veterans Service Officer Ken Mosely at 254-559-7021 to furnish the names of local veterans who died in 2017 so that they can be included on the veterans memorial on the courthouse lawn.

The monument is updated each year, and local members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary, along with Stephens County residents, attend a ceremony to honor those veterans. This year’s ceremony is scheduled for Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, at 10 a.m. on the courthouse lawn, 200 W. Walker St.

The deadline for adding the name of a veteran is Tuesday, May 1.

The VFW and Stephens County welcome donations for the annual program to honor the memory of the local veterans.
