Voter registration deadline for mayoral election is Thursday

This Thursday, April 5, is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming City of Breckenridge mayoral election.

To register to vote, go to the Stephens County Tax Office/Voter Registrar’s office at the courthouse and fill out a voter registration application. If you have lost your voter registration card, call the tax office/voter registrar at 254-559-2732 or 254-559-6513 and they can issue you a duplicate card. If you have moved since you registered, you will need to go by the tax office/voter registrar and fill out an address change form.

For more information about registering to vote, visit the Texas Secretary of State’s Vote Texas website, where you can find all of the qualifications for registering, as well as find out whether or not you are already registered to vote.

The election is scheduled for for Saturday, May 5, in the City Commission Chambers at 105 North Rose Ave.

Running for mayor are Allena McElyea Duncan and Bob Sims.

The ballot will also include the two City Commissioner places that are up for election this year; both of those candidates are unopposed. Russell Blue and Rob Durham are running for Commissioner Place 1 and Commissioner Place 2, respectively. 

All eligible voters of the City of Breckenridge may vote for all of the positions.

Early voting will begin on Monday, April 23, and continue on weekdays through Tuesday, May 1.

Early voting will be held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, April 23 and 24; from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, April 25-27; and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, April 30 and May 1.  Early voting will be conducted at the City Offices, 105 North Rose Ave.
