For the second week in a row, a Breckenridge High School student has been named the Big Country Player of the Week by the Abilene Reporter-News. And, according to Evan Ren’s article on the ARN website, the occurrence is “extremely rare.”

Additionally, Ren wrote about BHS junior Lane Berkley, “It’s even more rare that an athlete can win it by excelling in two different disciplines that are virtual polar opposites. Nonetheless, Breckenridge High School has locked up the accolade for a second straight week, with a performance from junior Lane Berkley, who not only won the Millsap Invitational golf tournament last week, but also took gold in the shot put at the Buckaroo Relays.”

Last week, BHS senior softball shortstop Makenna Moser received the same honor.
