Sheriff’s Weekly Summary
For the previous week, the sheriff’s office answered 36 calls for service, and as of Sunday, Feb. 18, the jail was housing 36 inmates.
February 12
- A deputy transported two male inmates from Stephens County Jail to a TDCJ prison near Abilene.
February 13
- A 36-year-old female was issued a criminal trespass warning for a residence on CR 197. This was due to her being a part of a disturbance at that location.
- A theft report was made on Water District Road 214.
February 14
- A deputy transported a female inmate of Stephens County Jail to a prison unit in Burnet.
February 15
- A male formerly arrested by the Sheriff’s Office in 2017 for three counts of sexually assaulting two separate children, pled guilty and agreed to a 50-year sentence for his crimes. The S.O. commends District Attorney Dee Peavy’s office for obtaining the guilty plea and punishment.
- A 30-year-old female was arrested on a warrant at the Stephens County Courthouse after it was determined that she had violated her probation, which was for a prior offense related to forgery of a financial instrument.
- A debit card abuse/theft was reported, where a known suspect withdrew money from an ATM without the consent of the owner or listed names on the checking account.
February 16
- A deputy arrested a 35-year-old male for a warrant related to making a false report. The arrest occurred on CR 261.
- A theft of crude oil was reported where approximately 60 barrels were stolen near CR 144.
Calls for service include but are not limited to: 911 calls, proactive contacts, non-emergency calls, registering sex offenders, serving civil papers, transporting prisoners and juveniles in and out of the county, mental hospital transports, court security, etc.
