Jackye Kinnard, age 86 of Breckenridge, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 19, at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Don Bearden and Rev. Charles West officiating. Interment will follow at 1:45 p.m. in the Graceland Cemetery in Jermyn, Texas, under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Jackye Lou Davis was born April 17, 1931, at her grandmother’s home in Snyder, Texas. Her parents were Lewis Wright Davis and Francis McClure Baxter Davis. Jackye attended grade school and junior high school in Odessa, Texas, and graduated from Monahans High School one month after her sixteenth birthday. She attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene for one year following her high school graduation. Returning to Monahans, she did office work and worked at the Pyote Air Force Base as a Clerk-Steno. She met the love of her life, Cotton, in Monahans, and they married in Odessa on February 8, 1949. After being a homemaker and raising children for 15 years, Jackye attended and graduated from Draughon’s Business School in Wichita Falls. She worked for 10 years for an independent Fire and Casualty Insurance Agency in Burkburnett. Jackye was a long time member of Bethany Baptist Church in Breckenridge, where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years and was the church clerk for 26 years. She, along with her husband, worked in the Food Pantry at Bethany every Wednesday for many years. She was a mentor for preschool and middle school children for approximately ten years. She was a member of Breckenridge Woman’s Club and Breckenridge Forum and was an avid bridge player. She loved to read and was grateful for the Breckenridge Library and the wonderful people who have worked there over the years, affording her many hours of enjoyment through the printed word. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Olan “Cotton” Kinnard; her youngest son, Stephen Lewis Kinnard; her parents, Lewis and Francis Davis; and three sisters, Edith Baxter, Donna Golden, and Jimmye Sue Mosley.

She is survived by her children, Richard Olan Kinnard and wife Janey of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and Martye Jo Underwood and husband Ernie of Breckenridge; daughter-in-law, Fredrica Kinnard of Lockhart; ten grandchildren, Jennifer J. Latimer, Kelley Ann and Brandon Brown, Richard Kyle and Marcye Kinnard, Kayce Leigh Underwood, Kevin R. and Brittany Underwood, Stephen A. Kinnard and fiancé Laura Richardson, Clifford and Melissa Carpenter, Cassandra Snider, Clayton and Linda Carpenter, Craig and Valerie Carpenter; 26 great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews.
