Breckenridge Independent School District will host its eighth annual Healthy Heart Celebration Night from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Feb. 15, at the BISD athletic center, aka the “new gym,” at 607 W. Second St. The event will include a variety of heart-healthy activities, food and information.

Free and open to the public, the Healthy Heart Celebration Night will feature Hoops for Heart for kids in fourth through sixth grade and Jump Rope for Hearth for those in second and third grades. Both activities are fundraisers for the American Heart Association. As an added incentive for students to participate, the top five fundraisers at North and South elementary schools will get to help their principals kiss a pig.

Attendees will receive a free ticket for a free, healthy meal at the event. Those will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.

While the kids are participating in the activities, the adults will have the opportunity to visit the Family Health Information booths for details on nutrition, hearth health and more.

Additionally, attendees can enter to win door prizes, and students will receive a free homework pass for attending.

Donations will be accepted for the American Heart Association.

Sponsors of the event include the BISD Student Health Advisory Committee, along with BISD Food Services, First National Bank, Breckenridge Interbank, BISD Career Classes and ABC Printing.
