Three candidates have signed up to run in the May 5 Breckenridge City Election as of 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, according to City Secretary Heather Robertson-Caraway.

Bob Sims has signed up to run for Mayor; Russell Blue Jr. has signed up to run for re-election to the City Commissioner Place 1 position; and Rob Durham has signed up to run for re-election to the City Commissioner Place 2 position.

The deadline for candidates to sign up to run in election is this Friday, Feb. 16, at 5 p.m.

The May 5 election will be held only if there are contested races. If there is only one candidate per office, the election can be canceled, said Robertson Caraway.

Applicants for the Mayor or City Commissioner places may file the application in person or by mail at the City of Breckenridge office at 105 N. Rose Ave. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
