Dolores Squyres, age 85 of Temple, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 3, at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Charles Kuhn officiating.

Dolores Irene Stewart was born March 4, 1932, in Breckenridge, Texas, to Raymond Stewart and Janie Meeks Stewart. She was raised in Breckenridge and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1949. Following graduation, she lived in Midland, where she worked as a draftsman and a secretary in the oil business. She later lived briefly in Florida and California, before moving to Fort Worth, where she graduated from Fort Worth Beauty School. Dolores returned to Breckenridge in 1970. She opened The Cottage in Breckenridge in 1981 and worked as hair dresser for many years. She was a former member of the Lady Elks and the Women’s Forum. Dolores loved dancing and taught tap, toe, ballet, acrobatics and ballroom dance when she was younger. She loved animals, especially dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Janie Stewart; husbands, Gus Deakins in 1992, and Don Squyres in 2005; and by her beloved dog, Lady.

Dolores is survived by her daughter, Jana Kim Deakins of Temple, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stephens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Breckenridge Buckaroo Band Boosters, American Cancer Society or Meals on Wheels and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at www.morehartmortuary.net.
