Sheriff’s Weekly Summary

For the previous week, the sheriff’s office answered 37 calls for service, served 11 civil documents, and as of Sunday, Jan. 21, the jail was housing 40 inmates.

January 15

  • The sheriff’s office and Texas DPS worked together to make a methamphetamine drug arrest during a traffic stop in the 300 block of East Walker Street. A 32-year-old male was booked for possession of a controlled substance penalty group one.

January 16

  • A deputy arrested a 56-year-old male at his residence in the 800 block of North Payne Avenue on a warrant related to burglary of a building.
  • A deputy arrested an 18-year-old male on a warrant for a probation revocation related to the past offense of possession of marijuana less than two ounces. This occurred at a residence in the 500 block of North Albany Avenue.
  • A deputy arrested a 61-year-old male at his residence in the 200 block of West Fifth Street. The male was arrested on the following warrants: two unpaid citations for allowing a domestic animal to run loose and a warrant for theft of property between $500 and $1,500.
  • Sacred Cross EMS donated six combat tourniquets to the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, along with other first aid applicators to stop bleeding and protect open wounds. Sacred Cross supervisor, Dustin Wright, provided training on how to administer the tourniquets to others and to one’s self. The sheriff’s office is grateful for the donation and the training.

January 17

  • A deputy drove to Dallas County Jail to arrest and transport a 26-year-old female back to Stephens County Jail. The female was arrested on a warrant related to possession of drugs.

January 18

  • Deputies and Breckenridge Police Department officers served an arrest warrant on a 31-year-old male in the 2200 block of West Walker Street. The person was arrested on a parole violation warrant out of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and for a warrant related to possession of marijuana.

January 19

  • The chief deputy arrested a 32-year-old male at the Law Enforcement Center after he showed up and caused disturbance. The male was arrested on a warrant related to continuous violence against a family member.
  • A deputy traveled to Potter County Jail in Amarillo to arrest and transport a 40-year-old back to Stephens County Jail for a warrant related to not paying child support.

January 20

  • A theft report was made in the 10000 block of CR 197. A gaming system, keys to watercraft, essential oils, a mattress, a patio heater, and a bread box were stolen during the last two weeks.

January 21

  • A criminal mischief report was made on CR 241, where a door to a residence was kicked in. Nothing was stolen.
  • A home burglary was reported in the 3100 block of CR 315, where a flat screen television was stolen after an exterior door was damaged due to forced entry.

Calls for service include but are not limited to: 911 calls, proactive contacts, non-emergency calls, registering sex offenders, serving civil papers, transporting prisoners and juveniles in and out of the county, mental hospital transports, court security, etc.
