Sheriff’s Weekly Summary

For the previous week, the sheriff’s office answered 46 calls for service and successfully served two sets of civil papers.

November 27

  • A deputy transported a male inmate from the Stephens County Jail to a prison in Abilene.

 November 28

  • The sheriff’s office obtained four felony warrants for a felon who was in unlawful possession of firearms. The warrants stemmed from a follow-up investigation that started in August. The warrants were served on an inmate who was already confined in the Stephens County Jail.

November 29

  • The ATF assisted the sheriff’s office by arresting a 43-year-old female in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, who the S.O. had obtained an arrest warrant for approximately two weeks ago. The ATF transported the female to Stephens County Jail where she was booked on a theft of property charge.
  • A 32-year-old male was issued a criminal trespass warning for an address in the 300 block of South Lowell.

November 30

  • In the early evening hours, the sheriff’s office took a missing person’s report for a 17-year-old female. A search was conducted into the early morning hours of December 1. Later that morning, the missing person was found deceased. The sheriff’s office conducted the preliminary investigation and is waiting results from the coroner’s office.

December 1

  • Jail trustees were utilized by the Swenson Museum to move furniture.

December 2

  • A deputy responded to a report of drug paraphernalia being found in the roadway of CR 229. The items, both actual drugs and paraphernalia, were collected and safely stored.

Calls for service include but are not limited to: 911 calls, proactive contacts, non-emergency calls, registering sex offenders, serving civil papers, transporting prisoners and juveniles in and out of the county, mental hospital transports, court security, etc.
