North Elementary PTO to host ‘Donuts with Dudes’ Wednesday

17:41 2017

The North Elementary PTO will host “Donuts with Dudes” from 7:15 to 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, for the students and the “cool dudes” in their lives to take a few minutes out of a typically busy day to sit down together and enjoy free doughnuts and juice.

Although the event is called “Donuts with Dudes,” the dudes can be anyone the student enjoys being with, including a dad, uncle, grandpa, neighbor, friend, mom, etc., according to the school.

According to information from the PTO, last year, the group hosted two events that offered opportunities for parents, mentors, caregivers, grandparents or any loved one to go to the school and take 10-15 minutes of downtime to sit and eat a snack or treat with their student and just bond with them. However, the PTO members understand that not every adult in a child’s life has the time or opportunity to visit the school during the day, and that’s the reason for the early morning option.

“We feel it’s important to provide opportunities to those parents to come out and interact with their student in the school environment in some way, Kim Fuller, Breckenridge Elementary One PTO President, wrote in an email.

Additionally, the North Elementary book fair will be going on in the library all during the event and throughout the rest of the week, so anyone interested can stop by and buy a book before leaving the event.
