Bennie Z. Hughes, 86, passed from this life to the next on Thursday, November 23, 2017. Graveside service with Charles Kuhn officiating will be held Monday, November 27, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Breckenridge Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.
Bennie Zenner was born on October 9, 1931, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Benjamin Hause and Pauline Zenner Hause. She graduated from Catholic high school in Albuquerque. Bennie had worked as a secretary for the General Services Administration in Albuquerque and later Fort Worth. She married Sidney Hughes Jr. on January 22, 1971, in Albuquerque. His work with the FAA took them all over the United States. They eventually settled in Breckenridge, which was Sidney’s hometown. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Breckenridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Hughes Jr., in 2005.
Bennie is survived by her sister, Gloria Giannini of Albuquerque, N.M.; sons and daughters, Curtis Bailey and wife Norma, Caryl A’hern, Mark Bailey, Julia Squibb and husband George, Betsy McKeller and husband Morris, and James Hughes and wife Cindi. Bennie had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to the First Christian Church, 101 E. Williams, Breckenridge, TX 76424.
