10:32 2017

Today, Tuesday, Oct. 10, is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming special election, to be held Tuesday, Nov. 7.

You can register to vote by going by the Stephens County Tax Assessor-Collector office – which also serves as the Voter Registrar’s office in this county – in the courthouse and filling out a voter registration application. It can be filled out and returned to that office by 5 p.m. today or mailed in today.

If you are mailing it in, the application must be postmarked today. The last postal collection in Breckenridge is at the U.S. Post Office, 123 W. Williams St., at 4:30 p.m.

Alternatively, citizens may register to vote by using an online application at www.VoteTexas.gov . That application must be printed out and mailed (postmarked) today.

If you aren’t sure whether or not you are registered to vote, you may check your status online at the Texas Secretary of State’s website.

The November election is a constitutional amendment election, and the ballot will include seven proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution.

For more information on registering to vote or on the ballot, call Christie Latham at 254-559-6513.
