City announces changes to residential trash pickup routes, bulk item pickup service

Starting on Monday, Oct. 23 Republic Services will change trash pickup routes in the city of Breckenridge. Also, starting on Oct. 28, they will change bulk item pickup service for the city from monthly to quarterly.

New residential trash pickup routes beginning Oct. 23

Monday’s route (shown in red on map) will be north of Walker Street from the east side of North Parks Street to the west side of Front Street.

Tuesday’s route (gold) will be south of Walker Street from the east side of South Parks Street to the west side of South Butte Street.

Wednesday’s route (yellow) will be north of West Walker Street from the east side of the Front Street to the west side of North Jackson Street and south of Walker street from the east side of Butte street to the west side of Melrose Street.

Thursday’s route (green) will be north of Walker Street from the west side of North Parks Street to Sendero Drive.

Friday’s route (blue) will be north and south of Walker Street from west of Sendero Drive to FM 3099. Also, it will be from south of Walker Street, from the west side of South Parks Street to the west side of Sunset Boulevard.

If residents have multiple poly carts for pick up, they need to allow 5 to 6 feet between the carts and keep them away from mail boxes, gas meters and other vehicles.

Changes to bulk pickup service beginning Oct. 28

Pick up dates for the northwest section of the city (north of Walker Street in West of Breckenridge Avenue) are:

Pick up dates for the Southwest section of the city (south of Walker Street and west to Breckenridge Avenue) are:

Nov. 16, 2018

Pick up dates for the east section of the city (north and south of Walker Street and east of Breckenridge Avenue) are:

Dec. 15, 2017
March 16, 2018
June 15,2018
Sept. 21, 2018
Dec. 28, 2018.

Republic Services will pick up three items for residential unit per quarter. Bulk items should be placed on curbside for pick up by 6 a.m. on collection day.

In order for large appliances and lawn equipment to be picked up, all liquids must be removed including gasoline, motor oil and hydraulic fluid.

Any appliances that contain, or have contained Freon or CFCs, must have the compressor and lines removed and be tagged by a technician to be accepted. Doors must be removed from refrigerators and freezers.

Lumber or brush cannon be larger than 4 feet long and 2 1/2 inches in diameter. They must be secured and tied in bundles weighing no more than 50 pounds.
