Joan Greenlee Jones, 88, passed from this life on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, in Greenville, Texas. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Wayland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home of Breckenridge, Texas.
She was born Oct. 11, 1928, to Ray and Leona (Patterson) Greenlee in Stephens County Texas. She married Fred Oneal Jones June 2, 1946 in Weslaco, Texas.
Much of her life was lived in Brownsville, Texas, where she worked and retired from Valero Energy Corporation dba Rio Grande Valley Gas Company. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving her are three sons, Roland Jones of Seagoville, Texas, Michael Jones of Kingsville, Texas, and Steven Thomas “Tom” Jones (Lu Ann) of Greenville, Texas; brothers, James Greenlee and wife Sharon of Clear Lake, Texas, and Robert Greenlee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Barbara McHargue and husband Chuck of Forney, Texas, and Tina Greenlee, a sister-in-law, of Fort Worth; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, Darrell and Charles Greenlee; and sister-in-law Dortha Greenlee.
