Breck Trade Days will kick off its fall season this weekend, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16, by pairing up with the annual Fall Community-wide Garage/Sidewalk Sale.

“This is the first Trade Days after the break during the hottest months of the summer,” said Rhonda Crawford, Executive Director of the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce. “We have six a year – three in the spring, March, April and May – and three in the fall, September, October and December.”

The official hours for Trade Days are from noon till dark on Friday and from 7 a.m. till dark on Saturday.

This spring, Breck Trade Days introduced the “Breck Barnyard,” where approved vendors may sell livestock that includes, but is not limited to, horses, donkeys, mules, cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, fowl, exotic birds and fish. No dogs or cats may be sold or given away, except through the Humane Society, if they choose to participate.

Other vendors at Breck Trade Days usually include general merchandise, arts and crafts, food and other items. Additionally, the Farmer’s Market will be open outside the Trade Days office.

Crawford said Trade Days has started to partner with other community events, and this month it’s the Community-wide Garage/Sidewalk Sale. The Chamber’s official Garage Sale List (included at the end of this article) includes 11 garage sales around the city.

Next month, Trade Days will partner with the inaugural Sloan Everett Memorial Bike Ride and Tree Dedication. The bike ride in memory of Sloan Everett, a 2000 Breckenridge High School graduate, as well as a local family man, rancher, business owner and civic leader, who died in March in a Texas panhandle wildfire. The October event will begin with a tree dedication at the Breckenridge City Park, followed by a memorial bike ride that will feature three different distances – 5.5 miles, 12 miles and 22 miles.

The bike ride will be a memorial ride, not a competition, Crawford said. Participation in the ride will be free. More details will be included on the Breckenridge Texan website in future articles.

Also during the October Breck Trade Days, a small “Pumpkin Patch” photo area will be set up for fall-themed photos of kids, and in December, the event will include photos with Santa.

This Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15 and 16, the official Garage Sale List will be available at the Trade Days office. On Trade Days weekends, the Trade Days office, located at South Dunnigan Avenue and East Hullum Street, is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
