For the previous week, the sheriff’s office had 46 calls for service and served three sets of civil papers.

Sept. 4

  • A theft of an air compressor and its accessories was reported to have occurred on County Road 261 sometime during the previous night. A serial number was provided.  The sheriff would like to remind the public that the best way for us to get your stolen property returned is by you recording the serial numbers as soon as you by the items.

Sept. 5

  • A theft of personal and identification items from a person living at the Villa Haven Nursing Home was reported.

 Sept. 6

  • A deputy transported a 61-year-old male inmate from Tarrant County Jail back to Stephens County Jail on a warrants related to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
  • A 55-year-old male was transported by a deputy from Taylor County Jail back to Stephens County jail for two warrants.
  • Trustee inmates were utilized by the District Clerk’s office to move filing cabinets and other items to make more office space in the courthouse.

Sept. 7

  • The on-going investigation from the delayed report of aggravated sexual assault of a child from last week, resulted in the sheriff’s office obtaining a confession from the suspect. Two felony warrants were obtained the next day, and the suspect was arrested without incident.  He is currently in jail with $100,000 bonds for each offense.  Additional charges are forthcoming.
  • Trustee inmates were utilized at the museum to move heavy items.

Sept. 8

  • A deputy transported two of our female inmates to a state jail felony prison in Gatesville.
  • A 59-year-old female was issued a criminal trespass warning for another’s house on County Road 213.

Sept. 9

  • A report of a violation of a court issued protective ordered was made. The suspect is accused of communicating in a harassing manner with the family of the victim.

Note: Calls for service include but are not limited to: 911 calls, proactive contacts, non-emergency calls, registering sex offenders, serving civil papers, transporting prisoners and juveniles in and out of the county, mental hospital transports, court security, etc.
