JoAnne Grimes, age 87 of Breckenridge, passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.
JoAnne Vogt was born June 17, 1930, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to parents Robert Leroy Vogt and Arlie Mabel Butler Vogt. JoAnne attended school and graduated Valedictorian from Rogers High School in 1948. On April 22, 1949, she married James Dewitt (J.D.) Grimes, Jr. in Rogers, Arkansas. They moved to Breckenridge from Chillicothe, Texas, in 2000. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and loved her family and her cat.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Vogt, Sr.; her mother, Arlie Mabel Butler Vogt; her stepmother, Opha Myrtle Kennedy Vogt; her husband, J.D. Grimes, Jr.; and her son, Jonathan Mark Grimes, Sr.
Mrs. Grimes is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Lynn Grimes Kinkade and husband Richard of Breckenridge; four grandchildren, Julie Fair and husband John of Abilene, Josie Garcia of Burkburnett, Jim Kinkade and wife Jennifer of Waseca, Minnesota, and Jonathan Grimes, Jr. and wife Amy of Vernon; and seven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Arianna, Annabel, Abigail, Trystin, Jennifer, and Ethan.
