Lora Williams

Lora Williams, age 90 of Breckenridge, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 25, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Justin Gandy and Pastor Andy Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in the Necessity Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 24, at Morehart Mortuary.

Lora Mae Linam was born Feb. 13, 1927, in Woodson, Texas, to parents John Albert Linam and Emma Mae Ball Linam. She lived in Throckmorton County in the Irby Community when she started to school. She moved to Morgan, Texas, when her father began working as a foreman on the Ward Ranch, then moved to Albany during her sophomore year in high school. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1944. After graduation, she attended Draughon’s Business College, studying bookkeeping. In 1946, she began working for Community Public Services until her retirement in 1984. On June 13, 1948, Lora married Carroll Maxwell Williams in Cisco at her parent’s home. She was active in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Lora was an excellent seamstress, making several coronation and wedding dresses for her daughters and young ladies of Breckenridge. Lora was a loving and caring mother and wife, taking good care of Carroll after his stroke 24/7 for 13 years. She was also a member of First Baptist Church and the Dorcus Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Williams in 2003; her brother, Corporal John Edward Linam in 1943; her parents, John and Emma Linam; and her sister, Luella Foreman in 2011.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her children, Roger L. Williams of Austin, Karen L. Wolfe and husband Tommy of Breckenridge, Margaret A. Stewart of Frisco; four grandchildren, Casey Williams and husband Darren of Keller, Troy Wolfe and wife Shana of Graham, Geordan Carroll Stewart of Roanoke, Geoffrey Stewart and wife Andrea of Dallas; five great-grandchildren, Cooper Williams, Avery Williams, Parker Williams, Easton Wolfe, Lexi Wolfe; one sister-in-law, Charlcy Standifer and husband Kenneth of Stephenville; and four nephews and one niece.
