The Stephens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will hold its first Buckaroo Bunco Bonanza – a city-wide Bunco party – to raise funds for a room in the hospital for hospice patients and their families.
The fundraiser will be on Monday, Sept. 18, at the Breckenridge Woman’s Forum, 1804 W. Walker St. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and Bunco will start at 7 p.m.
The Auxiliary will use funds raised at the event to help renovate and furnish one of the larger rooms at the hospital. The room will be designed specifically for hospice patients and their families. The organization has already approved and set aside $10,000 for the project; however, extra funds are needed to furnish it with suitable furniture and accessories for the families.
“It is our hope to make this stressful time a little easier for the families by creating a warm and inviting space for them,” Auxiliary members said in a news release.
The Auxiliary serves the hospital by raising funds with events such as the Bunco party and through sales at the hospitals gift shop to help with the costs of equipment, furnishings and maintenance. Earlier this summer, the auxiliary purchased a new treadmill for the hospital’s physical therapy and wellness center.
Entry into the Buckaroo Bunco Bonanza costs $25 per person, and tables of 12 are available for any Bunco or Keno group, as well as for individuals and/or card groups. There is limited seating, and seating will be assigned on a first-paid, first-reserved basis. There will be gifts, refreshments and winners from each table.
The registration deadline is Sept. 8.
