Welcome to the Breckenridge Texan, Breckenridge’s only locally owned source for news, entertainment and sports.
With the launching of this new website, we plan to provide the community with the information everyone has been looking for, specifically, current, local coverage of Breckenridge, Stephens County and the surrounding area.
Founded by husband and wife team Tony Pilkington and Carla McKeown, the Breckenridge Texan is a fresh news source that will not only provide high-quality journalism but also will offer an opportunity to local writers, photographers, cartoonists, etc. with a venue for their creative work.
“I’m talking about bringing back local control of the news in a long-term and sustainable format that is compatible with the way news is consumed today,” Pilkington said. “As you can see, we have organized much of the information in a way that the reader is familiar with, but we have so many opportunities for adding video, audio, photo galleries and more.”
We have gathered input from people throughout the community and have created this website based on that feedback. This is just the beginning of this venture, and we’ll be adding much more as the days go by. We hope you’ll be patient with us as we fine-tune the site.
