Saturday, Aug. 18
Salsa and Guacamole Contest
A Fresh Homemade Salsa and Guacamole Contest is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 18, at Breck Trade Days, held just south of the Breckenridge City Park. The contest will start at 8:30 a.m., and judging will begin at 11:30 a.m. Entry forms are available at the City of Breckenridge office, 105 N. Saturday, Aug. 25
5K Fun Run/Walk
A 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Aug. 25, will benefit the Team for Kids charity. The event will begin at 8 a.m. in the Breckenridge City Park, 503 E. Hullum, and will cost $15 per person. To register, go by the Breckenridge Medical Center, 101 S. Hartford, or call Barbara Medina at 325-370-8912 or Sandra Medina at 254-212-9244. You can also register at the park on the day of the race at 7:30 a.m. Team for Kids benefits more than 200,000 children around the country with free health and fitness programs.

Friday, Aug. 31
Benefit Dance
On Friday, Aug. 31, the Breckenridge Elks Lodge, located at 6074 FM 2231, will host a benefit dance to raise funds for children to attend the Texas Elks Camp. The dance will feature DJ Lowdown, aka Joe Mirelez, playing Tejano, country, Texas country, hip hop and R&B music. The dance will be from 8 p.m. until midnight, and the entry fee will be $8 per person. It will be open to the public. The bar will be open, and food will be served from 6 to 8 p.m. A silent auction that night will also raise funds. Saturday, Sept. 22
Hooked on Scouting Team Bass Tournament
The Hooked on Scouting Team Bass Tournament will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Hubbard Creek Lake’s Bob Clark Landing. Cash prizes will be awarded. For more information, call Mark Conrad at 325-370-7192. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Texas Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Saturday, Oct. 27
Stephens County Health Fair
Stephens Memorial Hospital will sponsor the 2018 Stephens County Health Fair from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the First Baptist Church’s Family Life Center, 301 S. Rose St. The event will include 40 healthcare-related vendors, flu shots for $15 each, free lab tests and more. Door prizes will be given away throughout the event. More details to come.
